This Living Room makeover is a study in big and small. There are big things you notice upon first glance like that gorgeous blue velvet sitter and other things that are a bit more subtle but crazy gorgeous none the less (ahem hexagon marble fireplace surround). It's a traditional beauty filled with unexpected layers crafted by the talented Studio McGee. See the full transformation with the before right here.
This living room belongs to a cute family that lives just outside of SLC. Because it is not a longterm house for them, we only made a few small changes to the bones of the space
It already had a fresh coat of Benjamin Moore "White Dove" paint and that was a great warm white palette to work from. We refinished the floors to a medium brown tone (it was yellow-ish before), replaced the shutters (to go to the top of the windows), and swapped the beige fireplace surround for that incredible marble hex tile.
Next step: furniture and decor. Our clients wanted it to feel pretty, but not too girly. We stuck with classic shapes, but kept things interesting with a bold navy velvet sofa and mixy-matchy pillows. I just love how the layers of this room came together.
